Where we live, my husband is pretty famous. People who he’s never met know who he is. One child described him to her great-grandmother as “the guy who scoops up all the teenagers who are having a hard time and helps them.” He’s the surf coach, the skate coach, the basketball coach and the parent coach – helping parents understand the teenage brain and navigate challenges while keeping the relationship intact. Professionally, he’s been a youth/social worker for 20+ years, but this is not what he gets paid for these days. And if you ever met him at a BBQ and asked about his job, he’d tell you about the roles he relishes most. Firstly, his role as “primary parent” to our 3 kids aged 12, 17 and 18 this year. And secondly, his role as biggest fan and support crew to his wife, together with a description of her amazing business.
