I have just welcomed my latest cohort of leaders into my programme “Driving a high-performance culture” and I could not be more excited!
The thing I love most about developing leaders is that everyone benefits.
The leaders win, because when you’re able to unlock others’ potential, you and your team can make a real impact together. Otherwise, leaders are often bogged down by things others should be doing or working themselves half to death trying to achieve huge goals on their own.
The people win, because when you have a leader who helps you achieve more than you thought possible, work (and life in general) is so much more rewarding. If you suspect I’m exaggerating, just think back to the last time you had a poor or ineffectual leader and how this impacted you.
The organisation – and by extension, customers and other stakeholders – wins, because when everyone is growing, the organisation is more able to initiate and adapt to the kind of change that will help it thrive in an uncertain future. Which organisation in the world right now does NOT need this?
I’m so looking forward to seeing how these leaders evolve over the next year, and can’t help but think – how lucky am I that this is my job?!?
